Course Description
TDR0775 – Drafting Detailer 1 is a 150-contact-hour Career and Technical Education (CTE) course within the Engineering Technologies > Technical Drafting taxonomy. It is designated as Occupational Completion Point C in Florida's Technical Drafting program sequence. Building on foundational drafting and CAD skills, this course advances students into intermediate-level detail drawing, multiview projection, sectional views, auxiliary views, and precision dimensioning using both manual drafting techniques and computer-aided design (CAD) software. Students develop the skills needed to produce accurate, industry-standard detail drawings suitable for employment as a drafting detailer in architectural, mechanical, civil, or structural environments.
This course is approved for Practical Arts graduation credit and is aligned to Florida Department of Education curriculum frameworks under the Architecture and Construction career cluster. Upon completion, students are prepared to seek entry-level employment as a Drafting Detailer or to continue into advanced drafting courses.

Required Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Apply intermediate drafting skills using manual instruments, measuring scales, and CAD software to produce accurate technical drawings.
- Produce multiview orthographic drawings using standard first- and third-angle projection techniques in compliance with ASME/ANSI drawing standards.
- Construct sectional views, including full, half, offset, broken-out, revolved, and removed sections, with correct hatching conventions.
- Create auxiliary views to describe inclined and oblique surfaces accurately.
- Apply precision dimensioning principles, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for fits, finishes, and manufacturing specifications.
- Prepare detail and assembly drawings at intermediate complexity, including parts lists and bill of materials (BOM).
- Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) to create, edit, annotate, and plot technical drawings to professional standards.
- Interpret and apply industry drawing standards and conventions (ASME Y14.5) in the production of working drawings.
- Demonstrate workplace readiness skills, including professional communication, project organization, and adherence to deadlines.

Special Information
Program Sequence Context: TDR0775 is Occupational Completion Point C within the Florida Technical Drafting program. Students who complete this course may exit the program for employment as a Drafting Detailer or continue to TDR0776 (Drafting Detailer 2) and advanced specialization courses.
Certification Preparation: The program is aligned with the Autodesk Certified User (AutoCAD) industry certification. Instructors must hold an appropriate Florida educator certification in Drafting, Building Construction Technology, or Technical Construction.
Graduation Credit: This course satisfies the Practical Arts graduation requirement for Florida secondary students (Grades 9–12). It is also offered at the postsecondary level (Grade Levels 30–31) at Florida technical centers and colleges.
Articulation: Students completing CTE drafting program sequences may be eligible for articulated credit at Florida state colleges and universities through applicable statewide articulation agreements.
