Course Description

Evaluation of Engineering Data is the applied statistics course of an industrial engineering programme. The statewide description is brief — “analysis of industrial data and subsequent characterization of industrial processes” — and that brevity is itself informative: the course is defined by what it is for rather than by a topic list.

What it is for is the rest of the degree. Quality control, simulation and operations research all assume that a student can fit a distribution, test a hypothesis and read a regression. This is where that happens, on industrial data rather than textbook data.
